About Farbs

Many lifetimes ago I worked in a production company and each Friday morning I would scour the internet looking for industry news and insights that would keep us and our clients up to date.

Farbs is a short version of my surname, and as we Australians have a tendency to shorten everything, the email was named ‘Farbs Friday Research’.

In the email I would include things I found interesting and I got to write quippy snippets that were amusing to me at least – so it seemed like an apt descriptor for this blog.

I apologise in advance for any jokes that might offend…

This food blog is simply a record of some of the recipes I have been gradually honing over the last few years, including some ‘experimental’ ones and the more definitive meals that I can’t do without. Most of them have a story, so it’s a little bit of a historical document too.

Occasionally I dabble in photography, so I might post the odd pic.

Added to that, I still use the recipes all the time and I’m terrible at filing, so this is a handy place to park the details!

I grew up eating a lot of European food so I like meals that take a little longer to prepare and I love desserts.  Whenever I went to my grandmother’s house I was force-fed a kaleidoscope of rich cakes and candy. She was my dealer.

But I also worked in advertising, I grew up in Sydney, lived in New York for 9 years and am now back in Sydney…so I don’t mind a fancy meal every now and then.
